The leaves may not be changing colors yet; however, many donut shops across the country are already changing up the seasonal flavors on their menus, saying bye bye margarita-iced and hello pumpkin-spiced. The big orange gourd has forever been the baker’s muse for autumn-themed desserts, but this fall, donut purveyors are extending their pumpkin lineups by adding a range of new harvest flavors we can’t help falling in love with. Here’s where to go for the best fall-flavored fried dough.

Doughnut Plant (New York)

All year, fans of this popular NYC donut shop anxiously await for Pumpkin Doughnuts to return to the menu. Made with real pumpkins, this classic fall treat comes in yeast or cake form and is topped with caramelized pumpkin seeds or pepitas. The mini Doughseed varieties are filled with a creamy pumpkin custard and topped with pumpkin glaze and spiced pepitas. For a twist on the apple cider donut, their Apple Cinnamon option is a breath of fresh autumn air.

Dunkin’ Donuts

In addition to Dunkin’ Donuts large assortment of pumpkin treats, including its staple Pumpkin Donut (a glazed pumpkin cake donut also available in bite-size), this year they’ve added a Caramel Apple Croissant flavor featuring a glazed croissant donut with apple filling and topped with caramel icing drizzle. We recommend pairing it with one of their their new Salted Caramel beverages for the full fall effect.

Krispy Kreme

Krispy Kreme is bringing back two of its fall favorites for 2016 the Pumpkin Spice Cake Donut and the Salted Caramel Latte Donut. The Pumpkin Spice Cake is an old-fashioned donut with pumpkin spice and Krispy Kreme’s classic glaze. The Salted Caramel Latte is filled with espresso Kreme and covered in a salted caramel icing blend and espresso icing drizzle. Two delicious options to keep you warm on a cool autumn morning.

Red Apple Farms (Boston)

Boston Common Coffee (Boston)

Known for their wacky donut creations that change every week on “Donut Thursday”, this coffee shop isn’t wasting any time getting into the fall spirit. Over the last two weeks, they’ve debuted several fall-themed donuts, including apple cider, Oktoberfest, and vegan cranberry. We can’t wait to see what new crazed, glazed confections they come up with for the rest of the season.

Doughnuttery (New York)

This is another great spot that has incredible mini sugared donuts. Just in time for fall, the Mulled Apple Cider donut is bursting with fall spices as well as flavors of apple and orange zest. And pumpkin pie fans will be hooked on the Pumpkin Pie Brulee donut made with pumpkin, graham crackers, brûléed sugar and seasonal spices.

The Donut Man (California)

While famous for their strawberry stuffed donuts, come October, The Donut Man offers spooktacular pumpkin varieties. Using a cake donut as the base, they’re piped with an airy pumpkin-and-cream-cheese frosting then decorated with fun halloween designs. Forget the candy we want boxes of pumpkin donuts in our Trick-or-Treat bags this Halloween.
