This place made a few lists of ‘top donut shops’ in San Diego.  Thrillist, Red Tricycle, and the San Diego Tribune all name VG Donut and Bakery as one of the top places to get donuts.  

VG has been around for nearly 50 years.  That’s a long time to perfect their craft.  Baked daily at 4 am and 4 pm, these donuts are fresh all day long.  Whether you’re a morning bird or a night owl, you can get your donut on here.  

VG emphasizes traditional donuts.  While they offer an array of flavors, most are no-frills.  They offer sprinkle-topped cake donuts and maple bars, which are just a couple of their offerings.  Located in a strip mall, there is no table seating.  That’s okay because they’re located right across the street from the beach.
