Nela Zisser, New Zealand model and Miss Earth New Zealand 2013, is 23 years old and has an amazing career ahead of her. And when I say amazing career, I mean an amazing career in competitive eating! Zisser hosts a YouTube Channel and posts new videos every Monday, most are of eating challenges and competitions. She’s eaten 22 Big Macs in one sitting, 50 dumplings in 3 minutes and 5 pounds of frozen yogurt. This unassumingly thin model has proved herself in the big leagues of the competitive eating ring. But Nela’s newest challenge knocked us off our feet, when she took on our favorite, Krispy Kreme donuts.

The 9,500-calorie donut feast was accompanied by two large glasses of water and was definitely impressive. The flavor of choice was obviously Original Glaze because we’re sure anything otherwise would have been too much. Within the first minute, Zisser gets 6 down easily but slows down as the fried, sugary treats started to take their toll. We were in awe that she didn’t give up after that first minute, talk about will power. Even with the struggle, she was able to finish strong with a final time of 24 minutes and 29 seconds. Weighing in at a total of 5.4 pounds, the pile of Krispy Kreme donuts was intimidating to say the least. Just a look at that pile would have some running away in fear!

9news caught up with the model turned eating competitor and she had a few words to say about her donut chronicles. Although she was happy with her time, she admits there was a point when she thought she wouldn’t make it out. She says, “About three quarters of the way through I actually felt really sick and I didn’t think I was going to make it to the whole 50. She also comments, “it took every bit of strength in me to get through those things.” She says that the first ten donuts were “really nice” and seemingly a breeze. It was the remaining 40 that were a bit of a struggle. We were absolutely impressed nonetheless that Zisser completely devoured the entire stack of 50 Krispy Kremes. You can’t judge a book by its cover, or a model by her size!
