It’s already happening. It’s barely September and establishments across the world are releasing their Fall flavors for this year, many including none other than Pumpkin Spice. But this Fall, some donut franchises are adding new flavors to their roster. Both Dunkin’ Donuts AND Krispy Kreme have released a Reese’s® Peanut Butter Donut. Is this some sort of plot the two have devised to stir up some drama? Are they truly unaware that the other released a similar product? Are we being forced to choose sides? Or is this all just a conspiracy? We did some investigating.

Krispy Kreme Reeses Doughnut

Krispy Kreme has released their fair share of limited edition donuts over the years to leave our mouths watering. But this donut looks almost heavenly. According to KK’s website, it’s “filled with the world famous Reese’s® Peanut Butter sauce, topped with Choc Icing and even more peanut butter flavour with Reese’s® Peanut Butter Chips”. It’s also topped with a “sprinkling of vanilla biscuit crumb and choc drizzle.” If you’ve noticed some of the spelling and language used to describe this tasty delight, you wouldn’t be surprised that they’re only available in Australia and parts of the UK. But fortunately for us, you can sign a petition to bring these donuts State-side because “Americans deserve Reese’s® Peanut Butter Donuts”, according to petition-starter Ryan Craggs. Even if the petition is a no-go there are seven limited-edition donuts circulating in the U.S. that are sure to tantalize your tastebuds and satisfy your Fall cravings including the “Pumpkin Spice Cake Doughnut” and the “Salted Caramel Latte Donut”.

Dunkin' Donuts Reese's Pumpkin Squares

If you run on Dunkin’, then you know that their Fall favorites include lots of pumpkin whether in drink, donut, muffin or some other form. But this year they’ve also added a Reese’s® product, a Reese’s® Peanut Butter Square to be exact. Described as “a creative twist on the classic candy, Dunkin’ Donuts’ Reese’s® Peanut Butter Square is filled with rich and creamy Reese’s® peanut butter buttercreme, topped with chocolate icing and finished with an orange icing drizzle”. Weighing in a total of 370 calories, you’ll be able to find this decadent donut at locations all around the US – a relief for Reese’s® lovers who are afraid that KK’s version won’t make it across the border. Although team members at PopSugar were skeptical of its consistency and flavors, you can check out this DD delicacy for yourself at any of its locations.

Whether you are a fan of Dunkin’ or Krispy Kreme, it’s clear that there’s plenty of Reese’s® Peanut Butter to go around. Since the release of KK’s version is so limited, I’d say that the two aren’t truly in a heated battle over who’s donut will reign supreme. No need to choose sides here people! One can only wonder how Reese’s® decided to make two deals with two different donut companies this Fall. Either way, we are glad to see the union of PB and donuts in this way and support both versions of this treat. The battle between DD and KK may run deep, but this Fall we believe that the “Reese’s® conspiracy” can rest its case.
