2. Jack's Donuts
The Peanut Butter Cup, Oreo, and Jelly Drop donuts are just a few examples of the amazing options at Jack’s Donuts. If you want to have a cup of coffee with your donut, try one of their Jack’s brand coffees. If you like your visit there (and we’re pretty sure you will), buy a whole bag of their coffee along with other cool merchandise like a mug or a t-shirt.
3. Square Donuts
Square Donuts is a family owned business that has been making square donuts for over 40 years. They certainly do not cut any corners when it comes to their donuts, which are light, fluffy, and out of this world. Their donuts are so good that they were voted the best yeast donut in Indianapolis. Way to go, Square Donuts!
4. The Dancing Donut
If you like donuts that dance, then The Dancing Donut is the place for you. With a numerous selection of donuts made fresh every morning, your tummy will leap in delight. For those Footloose fans out there, try the Kevin Bacon donut.
5. General American Donut Company
For those of you who want to demonstrate American pride and spirit, pay a visit to the General American Donut Company. Try one of their handcrafted donuts with a cup of their espresso. For those of you who want to stay home, make a phone call and they will deliver donuts to your door.
6. Al's Donuts
Sometimes the hidden gems provide the biggest surprises. This last donut shop is no exception. If you take a little drive west on US route 40 towards Plainfield, about thirty minutes from Indianapolis, you will find a place called Al’s Donuts. However, you have to get there early if you want to experience their whole selection of donuts. Al’s opens at 2:30 am and closes at 9:30 am, and that is if they do not run out of donuts first. It is a small shop but do not let that fool you. Their donuts have a cult following.
